The new free 3D amusement park software that will run on Linux, Mac and Windows is well on its way to success with code in the sourceforge repository and over 450 volunteers from coders to sound people to modelers and graphic artists, it is happening. The FRCS "Flat Ride Construction Set" will allow people to assemble their own flat rides from existing models. One of the models nearing completion is the historical Stantzel Strat-O-Liner and a photo here should show you just how committed we all are to this game. What is even more interesting is that unlike Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, the new game will be internet savvy allowing you to host your park online for others to visit and enjoy riding the rides in. It is a whole new world and beckons a new life for long ago parks our ancestors may have enjoyed. Pacific Ocean Park within the next few years will be alive, well and oh, historically accurate online too, all for those a mouseclick away.

This is the Stantzel Strat-O-Liner aka. Mr. Dolphin and the later named Mahi-Mahi ride at POP. The structure will be recolorable to the park builder to decide upon. Meanwhile, below the lift system used by Pacific Ocean Park was a Von Roll Lift system, same as Disneyland, Six Flags and about 95% of the world's amusement parks. Bubble Gondoas will also be added. The third unique ride to POP was the Diving Bells and those too are on the list of rides for ride modelers to nail...so stay tuned and enjoy. We are all hard at work for the world wide community.

The Diving Bells are on the agenda as well as the Bubble Gondolas for a Vol Roll Lift system so that ride should be quite faithful to the original.

Retro 1950's style cars are in the making and later theming for a Mission to Mars ride should allow for a mockup in a future net-aware POP online park in 3D. It's all coming, even if slower than most would like, but coming none the less.

We also added enough rides to cover POP's rival at the NuPike in long beach so both SoCal parks should be able to be online again. Jungle Jeep cars for the Dark Ride and Sea Shell themed Tilt-A-Whirl should also be forthcoming though not immediately.

It might seem impossible now, but I have always stated if you are persistent you can achieve anything at all. I believe you guys might want to build a net-aware POP online later on and invite the public to enjoy the park, in fact you can build variations of POP based on year and let guests experience the park during its better years online. Yes you will be able to ride the rides online.

One last note. POP had a rare carousel type of ride with a serpentine floor. It had horses that were fixed to the floor and went very fast much like a Himalaya ride does today. It took a while but we located a ride called the Horse Race and we have the specs on this ride. I remember my dad got very sick on this ride, what with the serpentine floor, sea salt of the Pacific and speed of the ride. It is not listed in the maps and info Jeffrey Stanton and others provided, but it was a ride at POP and existed in the mid 60's. So it shall be available again soon.

This is the Bubble Gondola style that POP used on their Von Roll Ocean Skyway system. The model is faithful to the original and recolorable in the game when the game comes out.

Rebuilding POP in cyberspace forever, one ride and boardwalk pier pylon at a time Smile

Theme Park Builder 3D taking shape rapidly. Initial app just a few weeks away or less.

Coding added to the initial release game includes the following.

Paths - Early Path Manager coding going in. Advanced Path Manager will build off this.

FRCS - Flat Ride Construction Set added to the package with simple interfaces.

Kiosks - Yes simple kiosks will be available at path side and you can list the items and prices. Lists are infinite at this time.

Peeps - It has been mentioned that peeps might or might not yet be available at least possibly for riding the rides.

UI - User Interface should be available, simple easy to use yet powerful to a certain point. This will most definitely be refined over time as the game improves, grows and changes too.

ATM's - This should also be available at the onset and working. Currency initially will be in United States Dollars however new currencies and later a way to make your own currency from your host country should appear and not long after the main release of the game is going.

Mobile Vendor Cart such as a Hot Dog vendor should be available in-game.

This initial release will be a stand alone game for a while much like the older RCT3 game by Atari was. But server side coding is in progress and already beginning.

Building Generator theory is still being debated, but it appears that the implementation may well finally be on its way too, though not for quite a few months ahead.

It has been mentioned but do not expect water rides of any type off the beginning app. I have received word that will be something coming later on. The main thing is that the base game should finally be here very soon and we can get some fun things going.

The list of rides will not be tremendous, but this is what we are officially currently going to try and release initially.
